Biography

John Clucas is an associate at Monahan Law Group. His practice consists of guardianship and probate matters. His work includes seeking help for adults with disabilities, pursuing justice for adults with disabilities who have been victims of abuse, and representing guardians caring for adults with disabilities.

Prior to pursuing law, John worked as an education coordinator at the DuPage County chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness. In that role, he gave presentations to middle and high school students about the signs and symptoms of mental illness with NAMI’s “Ending the Silence” program. The mission of that program was destigmatizing the conversation around mental illness among young people.

John received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois at Chicago and received the Ernest C. Van Keuren Award for Outstanding Graduating Senior in the English department. He received a Juris Doctor from the University of Tennessee College of Law. While attending Tennessee, John served as editor-in-chief of the Tennessee Journal of Law & Policy and chaired the school’s Student Wellness Committee; a coalition of students and faculty dedicated to creating a schoolwide conversation about mental health care and.

John is an active member of the Chicago bar community. In 2023, he became a member of the Chicago Bar Foundation’s Young Professionals Board, and has served as a vice chair of the Bar Foundation’s annual Investing in Justice Campaign. In 2025, he began a two-year term as a director of philanthropy with the Chicago Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section. He is a volunteer guardian ad litem in adult guardianship matters through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. In 2023, his article “Vocational Pilgrimage: Looking Beyond Our Borders as Legal Professionals” appeared in the CBA Record.
